While partnering with her clients to help them achieve their goals and dreams, Sharon’s designs focus on the minimizing building maintenance, incorporating low or non-toxic interior materials, and preserving future use-group flexibility.
As a twice-certified Permaculture Designer, Sharon brings a depth of wisdom and practicality to her practice, always seeking solutions that solve more than one challenge at a time, while minimizing inputs and utilizing the smallest amount of resources possible.
Sharon offers the full range of architectural services enabling her to provide feasibility studies, project programming, conceptual sketches and schematic designs, design development drawings and specification, complete construction drawings and specifications, and contract administration on the jobsite. She has also acquired proficiency in landscape design, including grading and drainage planning, hardscape design and detailing, softscape design and materials selections, as well as lighting and irrigation in landscapes. Further, Sharon particularly enjoys interior design, with a specialty in lighting design and fixture selection.

Construction and Design-Build Services
Through her company Porter Design Build LLC, Sharon offers both architectural design and general contracting services, for projects including both speculative houses as well as custom homes for private clients. Sharon's goal for each project is to consistently focus on the skillful management of timelines and budgets during the construction phase, with a simultaneous commitment to the architectural vision of each unique project.
For successful execution of her design-build projects, Sharon has a sources and vetted team of architectural, drafting and engineering professionals and a variety of construction subcontractors that she trusts both in their technical competency, their financial efficiency and their personal honesty and integrity. Sharon’s focus during each design-build project is on managing the dynamic budgets and schedules while maintaining the overall design vision and ensuring that the end result meets the owners' goals.
Sharon presents a variety of options to her clients for selecting the right delivery model for the project, as well as assembling the right team of professionals. All projects are executed with the help of a licensed geotechnical and structural engineers. And depending on the needs of the unique project, other design professionals may be called upon such as civil engineers, mechanical, electrical or plumbing engineers, and lighting and interior consultants.

She has developed and executed numerous speculative residential projects, both single family home subdivisions and multifamily projects, sought and obtained governmental entitlements such as rezoning, summary subdivision approvals, Planned Unit Development entitlements, annexations, lot line adjustments, and more.
She has a keen eye for acquiring prime pieces and undervalued parcels of real estate. Sharon knows the ins-and-outs of the Planning and Zoning processes, including applications that require public hearings and managing diverse neighborhood attitudes. Development work requires interacting with many different diverse population sets, and Sharon brings tremendous breadth of people skills to successfully navigate these personal and political complexities.
